Born in November 1964, a native of Yueqing, Zhejiang Province, a master of Chinese arts and crafts, a master of Chinese woodcarving arts, and a senior arts and crafts artist. When he was young, he loved painting and calligraphy. At the age of 19, he studied the woodcarving art of boxwood with Chinese arts and crafts master Yu Jinshun. During this period, he was vigorously cultivated by Chinese arts and crafts master Ye Runzhou. In the 38 years of boxwood carvings, he has insisted on taking his own path, adhering to his dream, relying on his own efforts and his unremitting pursuit and continuous innovation on the art path. The lines of his works are concise, ancient and sturdy, exaggerated in technique, and extremely charmed. Compared with the traditional fine carving, there is a certain distance and difference, and gradually formed his own unique carving art style.
Has created more than 200 pieces of boxwood carvings. Over the years, his works have won dozens of special awards and gold awards in the selection of large-scale exhibitions such as national arts and crafts exhibitions, competitions, and fairs; in November 2013, the boxwood carving "Appreciation of Music" won the 11th China Folk Literature and Art Award "Mountain Flower Award" (Arts and Crafts Category). Author of several papers published in "Sculpture", "Zhejiang Arts and Crafts", "Chinese Woodcarving", "Contemporary Craft", "Folk Art" and other professional publications. In 2011, Sichuan Fine Arts Publishing House published a personal work collection "Wu Yaohui Wood Carving Art Works". Invited to participate in the compilation of "The Complete Works of Chinese Arts and Crafts·Zhejiang Volume" in 2013.
In 1998, he was awarded the title of "Excellent Professional Technical Talent in Zhejiang Province"; from 1997 to 2000, he was invited by the Ministry of Culture to visit Japan and France to perform woodcarving live performances; in 2006, he was rated as Zhejiang Arts and Crafts Master; in 2010, he was rated as “Fourth batch of “four batches” of talents in Wenzhou’s propaganda and culture system; won the first Chinese woodcarving art master in August 2012; was selected as the outstanding creative designer of Zhejiang Province in the 2013 Zhejiang Creative Design Annual Appraisal; May 2014 Won the "Chinese traditional craftsman"; in December 2014, Wu Yaohui was rated as the representative inheritor of the third batch of intangible cultural heritage "Yueqing Boxwood Carvings" in Wenzhou City.
